Multisource or 360° assessments collect appraisal input from multiple sources, thereby providing a comprehensive, full-circle picture of educational leadership. Beyond simply relying on evaluations by superiors – the most traditional source of employee feedback – 360° assessments also involve input from a range of other stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, support staff, parents, and community members.

All complete the same survey instrument, and each of these stakeholders is an equally important component in forming a snapshot of an educational leader's work. By capturing multiple views of ongoing performance, 360° assessments encourage positive changes to leadership behaviors and influence the realization of organizational outcomes. Multisource feedback systems are particularly effective as a planning tool, allowing educational leaders to align leadership performance with organizational improvement and student achievement objectives.
